The Plan for the Removal of Architectural Barriers (P.E.B.A.) at the Centrale Montemartini
Like every museum and cultural venue under the Sovrintendenza Capitolina, the Centrale Montemartini regards accessibility as an integral part of its cultural mission.
Accessibility refers to the ability of all people to enjoy the museum’s spaces, content and services, regardless of age, language skills or physical and sensory conditions. It is an ongoing process of analysis and improvement that encompasses all areas of the museum: from exhibitions to communication, from visitor services to cultural mediation.
It is within this framework that the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers (P.E.B.A.) is situated, as required by national legislation and the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture. The Plan analyses the current state of the museum, identifies existing physical, sensory and cognitive barriers, and defines progressive measures to improve the quality of the visitor experience.
The P.E.B.A. was drawn up as part of the project funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU, PNRR Mission 1, Component 3, Investment 1.2 “Removal of physical and cognitive barriers in museums, libraries and archives”.
The document serves as a dynamic planning tool, aimed at expanding the opportunities for visiting the museum.
The Centrale Montemartini’s P.E.B.A., approved by Executive Decision RI/6926/2026 of 20 June 2026, can be downloaded in > PDF format in Italian
